We here at Man and Bride sincerely regret to inform you that the national go-to for the wedding bouquet toss has lost its staying power. Beyoncé gave every wedding from 2008 until now a certified, bouquet toss anthem, with her chart-topping hit 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)'
As a wedding DJ, I have played this wedding bouquet toss song more times than I can count, and for good reason - it is THE perfect song to play for the wedding bouquet toss. It begins with the perfect call out for girls to run to the floor for their positioning: 'All my single ladies (all my single ladies)... put your hands up!'.
If you've been to more than one wedding over the last 15 years (yes, I hate to break it to you, the song is that old; it did not in fact come out just a year or two ago despite what your millennial or Gen-Z brain may tell you) then you have heard the song played or have participated in a bouquet toss while 'Single Ladies' blares through the DJ's speakers.
I've found most of my brides want to have a different bouquet toss song because 'Single Ladies' has been so overdone but they simply cannot think of another song in its place. Great news! I've compiled a list of seven of the best modern bouquet toss songs. Each song has come out in the last five years and will be a hit for your wedding bouquet toss. With that being said, let's get a drumroll please *DRUMROLL*
Here are 7 of the top wedding bouquet toss songs we can all officially retire 'Single Ladies' and hang its jersey from the wedding party rafters.
1. Beyoncé 'CUFF IT'
I said we were retiring 'Single Ladies' from the bouquet toss, not the Queen herself! From the Grammy-sweeping 'Renaissance' album, Beyoncé has delivered us another bouquet toss banger if we should so choose to put it in the rotation. Complete with its own Tik Tok dance and challenge, the viral hit is a perfect song to get the ladies on the floor. 'Cause I feel like fallin' in love'... and maybe one of your girls will too after they catch the bouquet to 'CUFF IT'.
2. Coi Leray 'Players'
'Cause girls is players too!' An infectious hit on the radio and at parties, Coi Leray's 'Players' is a new staple for single ladies. One of the awkward things about the wedding bouquet toss is the perceived underlying message that singleness is bad and women should hurry and get married. 'Players' by Coi Leray helps break that tension by affirming that it's alright for women to be single and live their lives without judgment just like men do!
3. Miley Cyrus 'Flowers'
I mean... when we're talking about girl empowerment who does it better than Miley? Miley Cyrus' 'Flowers' dropped in 2023 and quickly took over the Billboard charts. The lyrics are almost too fitting for a bouquet toss, right?
I can buy myself flowers
Write my name in the sand
Talk to myself for hours
Say things you don't understand
I can take myself dancing
And I can hold my own hand
Yeah, I can love me better than you can
Drop this gem and have all the single ladies singing they can buy themselves flowers even if they don't catch the bouquet.
4. GloRilla & Hitkidd 'F.N.F. (Let's Go)'
GloRilla burst onto the music scene with this certified banger! There won't be a soul in the room who will be able to sit still when they feel the bass of 'F.N.F. (Let's Go)' being played. A catchy song about being S.I.N.G.L.E. again and being with your girlfriends makes for a memorable bouquet toss that will keep the party rolling even after the bouquet is caught. A ratchet anthem for weddings who like to turn up after the grandparents and more tightly wound family members have left.
5. Lizzo 'Juice'
Lizzo songs are always on-brand for weddings but people are seriously sleeping on her feel-good single 'Juice' from her third album 'Cuz I Love You'. Lizzo's lyrics and vibes are always curated to have listeners feel good about themselves and love the skin they're in. With an 80s feel, and a catchy, sing-a-long pre-chorus chant
If I'm shinin', everybody gonna shine (Yeah, I'm goals)
I was born like this, don't even gotta try (Now you know)
you're guaranteed to get props for pulling this hit out for your wedding's bouquet toss. Try it out!
6. Latto (feat. LU KALA) 'Lottery'
The 2020s have ushered in a new era of female-led dominance in hip-hop and one of the leaders of the pack is Latto. Coming off a massive record 'Big Energy' with a Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled feature, Latto's 'Lottery' is a hip-hop/pop recipe for a party hit. 'Lottery' by Latto pumps out the message that if any girl on the floor for the bouquet toss so chooses to be with anyone in the building or beyond, they've won the lottery. You may win the lottery as well by being one of the first weddings to have this song cued up for the bouquet toss.
7. Ice Spice 'In Ha Mood'
If you have been on any form of social media in the last year you ought to be well aware of the uprising of Ice Spice. The female rapper has quickly blasted off to fame and keeps the energy rolling with her single 'In Ha Mood'. The song is about wanting to go out and party while a man tries to convince her to stay with him. It's all about girl empowerment to make your own decisions and have fun with your friends. If you have a younger crowd of bridesmaids and women attendants, this may be a good choice for you.
No matter what you choose to play for your wedding bouquet toss song, just know that you have more options than Beyoncé's 'Single Ladies' (no shade to Queen Bey or the song, I don't need the Hive coming for me). I believe from a DJ's perspective these 7 songs are some of the best wedding bouquet toss songs you pick to keep your wedding party lit!
Are there any modern songs you think I overlooked? Let me know in the comments!
